A new multi-band GNSS receiver for GPS-enabled products
GPS-enabled products are increasingly popular. GPS capability is one of the most prominent features on new-age Smartphones. GPS functionality makes cutting-edge devices more useful and attractive from the consumers’ perspective. However, the features also make them consume more power resulting in reduced battery life.
The semiconductor company NemeriX has come up with a new multi-band GNSS receiver that is capable of receiving parallel signals from GLONASS, GPS and Galileo satellite constellations. It is fully programmable and makes use of a single frequency synthesiser. Its highly integrated design allows NemeriX to cut down on the silicon size and still receive up to three signals on varying frequency bands simultaneously. The receiver can also be programmed to tune into filtering levels and frequency plans as well.
The firm stated the receiver was originally devised for meeting needs in the high-end market, but it will also let manufacturers address future consumer applications. NemeriX VP (marketing) Lew Boore noted in a statement:
“NemeriX is ready to deliver the next wave of GNSS performance by offering a highly integrated solution for multi-band signal environments.”
