Al Gore and Joel Hyatt at the first ‘Hack The Debate’ event
Al Gore and Joel Hyatt, co-founders of Current.tv, were present at the first ‘HACK THE DEBATE’ event. Current.tv is a cable television network with a presence on the web as well. They have tied up services with Twitter so that Twitter updates are provided in real time, during the presidential debates’ broadcast on Current. This will hold true for all four debates (the remaining three are on October 2nd, 7th and 15th).
Before the first event, on the 26th of this month, at their San Francisco office, Joel Hyatt and Al Gore greeted the guests that mostly included techies, bloggers and Twitterers. In his speech, when the topic came of Twitter, Al Gore, while mentioning the fact that he is usually “an early adopter”, said “I shall be on Twitter by tomorrow”. On their part, Twitter has a special page dedicated to the Election 2008 and it refreshes automatically along with the updates or any ongoing “hot topic”.
Current.tv is an independent media firm that has businessmen Joel Hyatt and ex US vice-president Al Gore as co-founders/owners. The cable network went live on air in August 2005. Another network (their second) was started in the UK and Ireland in March 2007. The third network in Italy started in February 2008.
