Ballmer Declares Android as ‘Financially Unsound’
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer had said creating a mobile operating system was financially unsound for Google and that the company was definitely far behind the competition. He added they could hire smart guys and could also hire a lot of people yet, they have in specific sense remained far behind.
He has now also raised some questions over the financial strategy that Google has employed. The company has claimed that Android has no revenue model and carriers would take Android and charge Google a lot of money to carry on the search for a standard Android deck or UI. Ballmer also said that at some point in time Google would top the list of the competitors in the mobile industry, but not now.
However, Windows Mobile is popular for a simple reason. It has done well with Windows. It would be perfectly ok if someone was to buy a Palm Pro. The Low-End-Feature phone market is a complete hotchpotch of operating systems. These also include Windows and Symbian to an extent. But largely, the operating systems that are found are unsupported and essentially proprietary.
It is clear that Android would proceed and replace these Operating Systems. The Carriers would not be bothered when they have to face the cost saving of installing Android against rolling out their own OS and the charges for the search placement would be too much.
