While many delegates who attended the D6 conference largely remained glued to the Windows 7 announcement and developments on Yahoo!, a share of spotlight was also grabbed by Bill Gates who is counting down to his last day (1 July) at the firm.

At a reception that was held as part of San Diego’s All Things Digital conference, the Microsoft chairman spoke to reporters about what the future has in store for him. Even though he was soon to retire from his duties at Microsoft, he stated, he was not to ‘let go completely’.

His priorities would be definitely changing, he conceded. So instead of spending almost 80 per cent time at Microsoft and the remaining 20 per cent at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, he would be doing exactly the opposite. Mr. Gates will still remain as chairman of Microsoft. He would still have an office in Redmond and would be spending his time working on his favourite projects, comprising the next generation Microsoft Office.
