Co-founders of Flickr leave Yahoo!
Yahoo! has been seeing a lot of ups and downs for quite some time. From fighting the Microsoft takeover battle to tilting towards Google, the situation is still uncertain. The uncertainty has only been heightened further, with their important personnel walking away. The person staying back to handle it all is CEO Jerry Yang, who has just completed his first year as Yahoo! CEO.
After Jeff Weiner, Yahoo! YDN EVP, walked out, citing personal reasons. It is now the turn of husband/wife duo, co-founders of Flickr, Caterina Fake and Stewart Butterfield. Both of them had sold Flickr to Yahoo! in March 2007 almost a year after launching it. According to media reports, while Fake has already left, Butterfield is going to leave on the 12th of next month.
Although it is not known why both of them have left, but reports indicate that that Yahoo’s move to force every Flickr user to get a Yahoo! id and also to add video, did not go down well with regular Flickr users, and might have upset Caterina Fake and Stewart Butterfield.
