European Commission social networking websites
At the Safer Internet Forum that happened in Luxembourg, Viviane Reding, the Information Society and Media Commissioner argued that the European industry can benefit from social networking websites since they can boost productivity and also internal communication in the industry.
Reding said, “The result is that clients are for the first time truly engaged in a company’s product innovation and development services that should eventually lead to an increased client loyalty and more purchases.”
“Other companies have opened specific networking websites for their own employees, giving them the possibility to operate as a community no matter where they physically are. This gives employees the chance to feel involved in company decisions, helping in engagement and increased productivity,” she added.
Reding further said that apart from social networking websites being able to boost mobile web’s success, they can also make opportunities available for companies to recruit new staff members. She did, nevertheless, warn of concerns surrounding child safety on the sites. This statement completes a busy week for European Commission in relation to technology, a couple of days ago they also announced their plans of making sure that access to broadband internet is available to all Europeans by 2010.
