Facebook to push trustworthy and secure applications
The last few months for Facebook have been pretty eventful. The period has been marked by plenty of controversy. Developers complained that the social networking website was not communicating well about changes made to the service.
Some also accused it of copying the most popular and successful features of outside applications. It was accused of introducing competing versions. Many trivial applications clogged the website. They sought to spread themselves among users by various tricks. Frustrated, Facebook tried to counter that by putting more emphasis on significant, trustworthy applications.
Putting all this behind, Facebook is trying to regroup. The firm has recently announced that it is setting up another level of certification, termed the ‘Facebook Verification programme’. This programme is for applications, which meet the basic criteria of being trustworthy and secure. These applications will be ensured added visibility and also a graphical ‘badge.’
Facebook has also unveiled a new developer’s website apart from pledging to communicate more openly with those entrepreneurs who have opted to tether their future to Facebook.
