Google Becomes default Search Engine for Opera Mobile And Opera Mini
Google has been chosen by Norwegian software to be the default search engine for its Opera Mobile and Opera Mini web browsers. Opera was earlier in agreement with Yahoo Search, before its termination in January 2007. No reasons were given for termination of the agreement between Yahoo! and Opera.A Yahoo Search spokesman stated that, “Yahoo! has elected not to continue its mobile search partnership with Opera at this time. Consumers with Opera browsers will continue to have access to Yahoo! OneSearch and as long-standing partners; Opera and Yahoo! will continue to work together.”
Google and Opera have been working together for 7 years now. Google was the default search option for Opera’s desktop browser. But now Google is under the agreement to be default browser for the users of Opera Mobile and Opera Mini. Users of these software can now have direct access of Google’s mobile search from their browser’s homepage.
Jon Von Tetzchner commented by stating, “Google and Opera have established a valuable relationship over the years and we look forward to continued collaboration on mobile products. With 2008 poised to be the year the mobile web goes mainstream Google and Opera are extending this collaboration to give our users immediate access to the quality and convenience of Google’s search results.”
