Google has once again surprised its users. It has offered them a free online service that would cost quite some money otherwise. This time around, it has come up with an online collaboration tool. Google Sites allows all users to put up a collaboration web site for team coordination, project management, company intranet or company extranet, as well as various other kinds of online information.

Google Sites is supposedly the easiest way to offer information to people who require the latest access. People can collaboratively work on a Site in order to add file information and attachments. It makes creating a site together as easy as editing any word document. Users can access the Google Sites web application from any PC having an Internet connection.

Critics are also of the opinion that Google Site is a lower version of the collaboration software of rival Microsoft’s Sharepoint. At Sharepoint, users will definitely have to buy hardware as well as software at a cost. But Google Sites offers the free service totally free of cost. Microsoft is yet to come up with a plan that will reduce its dependence on the sale of software with online services based on advertising.
