Google registers impressive ad sales of $2.53 billion in the UK in 2007
The world’s leading search engine Google has generated impressive advertising sales of almost $2.53 billion in the UK in 2007. The figure represents good year-on-year growth of nearly 45 per cent compared to last yer (2006), though it’s down from the whopping growth rate of 80 per cent declared in that year’s earnings report.
It has also been revealed that the UK sales of the top search engine provider represent 15 per cent of its total sales for the year, down a bit from 16 per cent in previous year. Apart from this, Google has reported spending nearly $3.1 billion on Internet advertising firm DoubleClick’s acquisition as well as close to $909.6 million on other purchases during the year gone by.
Google has been unanimoulsy tipped by financial experts to emerge as the UK’s biggest single ad income generator overtaking ITV1. (The figures by media investment management firm Group M suggest that ITV1 will make somewhere in the region of $2.56 billion for the same period.) Analysts anticipate that the seach engine giant will take another year or so to attain this milestone. Y-on-Y 45 per cent growth in 2007 is an impressive achievement by Google, which is all set go past the leading commercial TV channel of the UK at some point of time.
