IBM’s Cognos 8 software will optimise processes and reduce costs
IBM’s Cognos subsidiary has just announced the launch of its Cognos 8 business-intelligence software. According to the company, the new software will help customers in efficiently reporting and analysing transactional systems directly on the main frame. It will facilitate the whole organisation in identifying and responding quickly to critical business trends.
According to Cognos’s vice president of BI product marketing Leah MacMillan, the release of business intelligence software will allow customers to take advantage of Cogno’s broad range of proven capabilities. It will help all types of users to optimise operational processes. Companies will be able to minimise their infrastructure costs and simultaneously reduce complexity.
An emerging trend towards consolidation of their IT infrastructure has come as a bonanza for the IBM System z thanks to its large processing capacity. Gartner, the analyst firm, while analysing the reasons for IBM’s commercial success endorsed the view that system z is one of the major contributors to the improved showing by the software giant.
