Microsoft makes changes to Windows 7 email integration
Microsoft has decided that Windows 7 will not include built-in programs for email, movie making and photo editing as was the case with Windows Vista.
The firm included Windows Mail, Windows Photo Gallery and Windows Movie Maker as part of Vista. Later, it chose to offer separate downloadable Windows Live programs that basically replaced those components with newer versions that could connect to online services from Microsoft and other vendors.
Microsoft has now decided to remove those features from Windows 7 totally. Instead, it intends to offer only the service-connected Windows Live versions as free downloads. Windows Vista general manager Brian Hall said that Microsoft has made the decision to remove the tools from Windows for a variety of reasons. One reason is that they wished to issue new operating system releases faster than it has in the past.
This move also takes care of clearing the confusion of offering two different programs that perform similar functions. He added the idea of making the Windows Live tools completely different from the operating system helps Microsoft to work selectively with particular partners.
Microsoft has recently rolled out “Wave 3″ releases of its Windows Live programs, which includes Windows Live Movie Maker, Windows Live Photo Gallery, Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Writer and Windows Live Messenger.
