Mobile messaging revenue to reach over £100B by 2013
Thanks to new innovative technologies and customization, mobile revenues will grow to over approx £100B ($212 billion) by 2013, a study claims. Factors for this growth, according to ABI research, would include rapid adoption of SMS text messages in America, mobile e-mail’s growth in developed regions, mobile subscriber growth in Asia-Pacific and the increasing popularity of social networking.
The principal analyst of ABI, Dan Shey said that many customers worldwide find messaging cost-effective and valuable for communications and delivery of information. He added saying that the range of capabilities, services and pricing options can be fit to the economic and social differences of each region, and the result of which would be steady growth over the next five years.
The points that were discussed in ABI’s Mobile Messaging Services Report included the messaging market across five common platforms – SMS, MMS, instant messaging, email and voicemail. The benefits driving the growth of messaging extend beyond its obvious economic, social and convenience advantages relative to voice-calling. New input and access capabilities will be the next driving force for the development of the next stage of messaging growth. Plus the integration across mobile and fixed-line platforms would prove to be an added advantage.
Mr Shey also anticipates that if the effort put in by certain companies to incorporate advertising in mobile messaging is done correctly, advertising will completely change the mobile messaging market.
