Radiohead, the latest high profile band to feature on iTunes
With Radiohead’s back catalogue appearing on iTunes, they have become one of the latest high profile bands to showcase their work on Apple’s prominent download store. Their first six studio albums are now available apart from their latest ‘In Rainbows’ that appeared in January.
EMI, Radiohead’s former record company, has made their works available to be bought as single tracks or complete albums. Radiohead had held out thus far since they wanted listeners to buy their music albums whole, whereas Apple insists that artists let fans buy individual tracks as well. The band members finally changed their minds after they moved labels and released ‘In Rainbows’ on XL.
The Beatles are now perhaps the only major British band whose music is yet to be put on the service. Solo work by all of the ‘Fab Four’ is available. A deal is only a matter of time, it is believed. Garth Brooks, second only to The Beatles in all time US record sales, has also refused to join in the iTunes revolution. He also wants fans to download full albums since he states each (album) is a complete work and their songs are to be heard together.
