Social networking site Bebo’s interactive teen drama commissioned for a second series
The second interactive teen drama from popular social networking site Bebo, Sofia’s Diary, has been reportedly commissioned for a second series. The current series, which runs each day on the AOL-owned web site, is also shown on Five’s female-oriented digital television channel Fiver.
Sofia’s Diary’s next 65-episode series is going to be distributed via Bebo and also across the network of new parent firm AOL, the US media giant that bought the social networking business for around £430m ($850m) in March. Bebo stated Fiver was ‘believed to be committed’ to running the second series. This online drama follows a feisty 17 year old and her friends. It, in the process, invites users of the online social network to cast their vote on twists in the engrossing storyline.
Sofia’s Diary typically draws more than 1,000 comments on the show’s Bebo channel as well as character profile pages each day. A Bebo spokeswoman stated the show had managed to “build synergy” with its followers and that the web site was ‘proud to be seen as the platform for producing outstanding original content online’.
