Supermarket websites not at par even as online sales rise
The online retail concept have captured an increasing share of the consumer spend. However, the customer service provided by the supermarket websites is not following pace at all. There is a significant difference in the Web Page loading response times within the various leading UK grocer’s websites. As per a survey by online customer experience specialist Gomez, the slowest one is almost four times behind the leader.
ASDA.com is topping the list with an average response time of 7.8 seconds. It was tested by more than 40,000 PCs having different dial-up and broadband connections for a period of seven days. In the same task, Tesco.com came close behind with 8.3 seconds. Sainsburys.com’s grocery site came third at 10.5 seconds. However, Sainsburys.co.uk had a time gap of more than 24 seconds.
Online sales have seen a rise of 38 per cent year on year in the initial six months of the current year. Downtime and irregularity inconsistency not only prevent purchasing, but they also ruin customer experiences and create an impression, which is proving to be damaging. These issues need to be addressed on urgent basis to boost online sales.
