The Chocolaty Facebook
Now you can send your Facebook friends chocolates as gifts. They can collect it from a shop with the help of their mobile phone. The Light Agency, in combination with Mars Snackfood UK has recently launched the Celebrate platform. Facebook users will need to add the application to their profile before they can choose the gift – like a Mars bar - and then choose the friend they want to send it to. They can pay up with the help of their PayPal account.
The receiver of the gift will receive a Facebook message asking them for their mobile phone number. Then the voucher will be sent to them. Once they receive their exclusive mobile voucher ID, they can claim their gift at any of the 12,500+ PayPoint stores across the UK. Users have been sending numerous virtual gifts on Facebook. This is one of the first applications that provide that benefit of social network along with mobile payment technology. Sarah Miles, the trade marketing controller at Mars Snackfood UK, believed that the applications should develop confectionary sales via PayPoint while at the same time offering a different method to send gifts to friends and family. This ia far better than sending virtual gifts.
