UK users visit Social Networking sites the most
According to Ofcom’s recent International Communications Market report, users in UK spend more time on social networking webistes than any other users in Europe.
This report makes UK a leader in usage of websites such as Facebook, Orkut, Bebo, MySpace and others.
Four among ten UK adults regularly frequent these websites, on an average they visit 23 times a month. This can be attributed to the competitive broadband market and English language bias of social networking sites. With widespread availability of broadband services at affordable rates, UK users managed to top the frequent visitor list as compared to users from other countries in Europe.
The report also brought out some other interesting findings like advertising spends on Internet in UK are almost as two times more than spends in other European countries Advertising spends on Internet by advertisers is also gaining over spends on other mediums like radio, outdoors and magazines. UK also leads in consumption of digital TV and mobile. The numbers of mobile phone connections have already surpassed fixed line connections.
