Vodafone looks to leverage social networking on mobile devices
The well-known mobile operator Vodafone is planning to offer a service that customers have been yearning for. The firm is mulling over offering unlimited Internet access for customers accessing Facebook and Bebo via their handsets. This new service is the result of the rising and significant trend of accessing social networking sites and email from mobile phones.
Vodafone is planning to come up with new monthly mobile price plans. This unlimited internet access service forms a standard feature of the plan. The firm is probably the first one in the UK to come up with an unlimited deal with all its monthly tariffs. Vodafone stated the Internet access feature would be bundled in with all its new pay plans for no extra charge. However, Vodafone’s ‘unlimited’ package does have a limit; it is subject to a ‘fair usage policy’ of 500 megabytes every month. If users overstep the limit, they will not be penalised, but would be intimated about the same.
he top three web sites on Vodafone Mobile Internet are Facebook, Google and the BBC, whereas the top three searches by customers are Facebook, Bebo and eBay. According to Al Russell, the head of mobile internet and content services at Vodafone, this service will help users to learn how to use and leverage the Internet on phones, without having to worry about the cost.
