The mobile email provider, Visto will be powering wireless carrier Vodafone Germany’s mobile email offering ‘Vodafone E-MailConnect’. The new service is geared towards Vodafone Germany’s expanding consumer base and small business markets in the country.

Vodafone Germany chose the Visto Mobile platform for improving the mobile email experience for its users. “The strategy is to provide a service, which appeals to a broad mobile audience,” stated chief marketing officer of Visto (Redwood City, CA) Doug Brackbill. “We’ve made it very easy to set up and it can even host ISP email, such as Yahoo and Hotmail. The service is geared towards both - the general population as well as business people. It’s absolutely convenient for personal use.”

Vodafone Germany is fast emerging as one of the leading carriers in Europe, serving well over 34 million mobile customers. It’s offering the Vodafone E-MailConnect service on a wide range of business devices as well as consumer-oriented handsets. Vodafone E-MailConnect will be available on multiple devices based on the Palm, Java, Microsoft Windows Mobile operating systems and Symbian. Mr. Brackbill elaborated: “People are very mobile nowadays, so this is a way for them to take email with them wherever they go.”
